In its organic structure, the Azores Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service includes the Planning, Operations and Risk Assessment Division. This department of the regional service has the mission of ensuring planning and the management of Service operations, coordination of the means to be engaged and the suitability of the measures of exceptional character to be adopted at the verge or in the event of a serious accident or a disaster.

This division also integrates the Emergency Operations Center, an operational structure of the SRPCBA, which comprises, among others, the Reception Room and Emergency Management, where all the ARA rescue calls are received, sorted and followed up.
