Technological
Technological risks are accidental events, involving or not hazardous substances, which may occur in public spaces, collective equipment, establishments or industrial areas, likely to cause significant damages among workers, the population, equipment or the environment.
Technological risks are related to human actions, though in some cases occur in relation to natural phenomena. We may say that they have emerged with the development of the great urban civilizations in the past, where the risk of urban fires or dam failures already existed.
Industrialization and technological development, while allowing the coming of new economic activities, have contributed to increase technological risks within the population, patrimony and the environment.
Industrial Accidents
Industrial accident is an event caused by the emission of substances, a fire or an explosion of serious proportions, as a result of uncontrolled developments occurred during the functioning of an establishment, which constitutes a serious, immediate or delayed hazard for human health and/or the environment, likely to involve one or more dangerous substances.
Transport of Hazardous Materials
Hazardous materials are considered to be substances or preparations which due to their inflammability, ecotoxicity, corrosiveness or radioactivity, through spills, emissions, fires or explosions may cause situations with negative effects for Man and the Environment. The transport of hazardous materials, due to the consequences that may occur in the event of accidents, raises safety problems needing special attention.
