Seismological Warning 30/2019 (ATUALIZAÇÃO)

Na sequência do comunicado 553/2019, emitido pelo Centro de Informação e Vigilância Sismovulcânica dos Açores que aqui se reproduz,
Sismo sentido nas ilhas do Faial e de S. Jorge - Atualização do COMUNICADO Nº 551/2019
O Centro de Informação e Vigilância Sismovulcânica dos Açores (CIVISA) informa que às 12:59 (hora local = hora UTC), do dia 16 de junho foi registado um evento com magnitude 2,8 (Richter) e epicentro a cerca de 12 km a N de Bandeiras, ilha do Pico.
De acordo com a informação disponível até ao momento o sismo foi sentido com intensidade máxima III (Escala de Mercalli Modificada) em Ribeirinha, Matriz e Castelo Branco, concelho de Horta (ilha do Faial), e em Santo Amaro, concelho de Velas (ilha de S. Jorge).
O CIVISA continua a acompanhar o evoluir da situação, emitindo novos comunicados caso necessário.
O Serviço Regional de Proteção Civil e Bombeiros dos Açores recomenda que sejam tomadas as seguintes medidas de autoproteção:

| • Keep calm and expect possible replicas; |
| • Do not light matches or lighters as there may be gas leaks; |
| • See if your house has suffered severe damage and leave immediately if you suspect it is not safe; |
| • If you doubt about the integrity of gas, electric or water circuits, turn them off immediately; |
| • Never use the lifts; |
| • Confirm the expiry date of your emergency kit and re-check its content with your family;; |
| • See if there are any wounded and, if necessary, provide first aid; |
| • Be aware of broken glass or electricity cables. Prevent injuries by protecting yourself with proper clothes; |
| • Immediately clean all inflammable products that may have spilled; |
| • If possible, release your pets as they can take care of themselves; |
| • Stay away from beaches as a giant wave (tsunami) may occur; |
| • Turn on the radio, pay attention to the broadcasted recommendations and do not help disseminate rumors; |
| • Always follow the recommendations provided by the local authorities present as they are there to assist you; |
| • As soon as possible, verify the validity of your house and vehicle insurance policies and confirm if they cover seismic phenomena. |
